Feel the Blues BAND- A supergoup made up of Ash Wilson, Roz Sluman and Jules Carter with Slagbank.
Ash Wilson is one of England’s most distinctive vocalists, guitarists and songwriters in contemporary blues music today.
“ ONE OF THE GREATEST GUITARISTS IN EUROPE “BOWNESS BLUES FESTIVAL.
Ash has played in various bands over the years including The Melt, Infamous Vampires and The Sean Webster Band. He has appeared locally at the last years Feel the Blues in Maryport and also the Maryport Blues Festival. He played twice at the 2017 Great British Blues Festival to widespread acclaim.
Roz Sluman - Having grown up in South London, by the age of fourteen Roz was out gigging in local bands. Having passed all the music grades at school her reading ability allowed her to join a big band. Roz has gigged with 'Fusionhead', 'The Olly Alcock Band' and 'Smooch'. She currently has various live projects including ‘The Big Shoes Band’ and also hosts the monthly Jazz Jam at the Old Fire Station.
Jules Carter plays his own original material and a few selected covers in an exciting amalgam of blues, rock, and jazzier styles, influenced by the great blues trios of the past, but with hints of Steely Dan, Gary Moore, Eric Johnson, and Mike Stern in the mix. In the 70’s, Jules was a member of Prog Rock Band Stallion and had a residency at the world famous Marquee Club. Jules has headlined as a guest artist at various blues jams and concerts including Cockermouth Blues BB King Tribute. He joined Jon Amor at the Maryport Festivals flood relief event.
Slagbank is a three-piece covers band based in West Cumbria. Named after the imposing mountain of industrial by-product from the now defunct steel works, i.e. slag, which frames the view of the Solway Firth at Workington, the band comprises of Buzz Elliott – guitar & vocal, Tony Steel – drums & vocal, Mark Coles – bass & vocal.
Jon Amor - UK vocalist and guitarist Jon Amor is formerly of the award-winning British band The Hoax. Drawing inspiration from the Blues greats of the past like Muddy Waters and Howlin' Wolf, as well as more contemporary acts like Black Keys and Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, his sound is powerful, raw and uncompromising. As a solo artist, Jon has continued to play with the Jon Amor Blues Group and many other projects including ‘The Boom Band’ and ‘DVL’. Jon is well known in Cumbria having played locally at the Maryport Blues Festival , Bowness Blues, Carlisle Blues and The Kings Head in Carlisle.
Trafficker is the band formed and led by ace guitarist and songwriter Tommy Allen.
Tommy has jammed and recorded with: Nicky Moore, Sugababes, Mojo Buford, Nighttrain, Marcus Malone, Otis Taylor, Lazy Lester, , Danny Bryant, Dino Baptiste, Connie Lush, Jim Crawford, Robert, Wee Ellis (James Brown Sax Player), Simon Kirk and Mick Ralphs (Bad Company) to name a few.
Having played at the Maryport Blues Festival and Bowness Blues, this is Traffickers first appearance in Carlisle.
Redfish are a well-respected and in demand Dumfries and Cumbria band, Who deliver high energy, soul-deep rhythm and blues. They have recently played to great acclaim at the prestigious Edinburgh Blues club and supported Dr Feelgood here at the Old Fire Station.
Voodoo Blood formed in October 2015, Voodoo Blood are a new Manchester four piece, re-imagining blues rock with hard hitting riffs, soaring guitar solos and wailing vocals. The band are already kicking up a fuss and have played many iconic venues including the prestigious Royal Albert Hall in London. This is their first appearance in Carlisle although Kim appeared as part of the duo, ‘Calm and the Storm’ at the Bonfire Blues in the County Hotel Last November.
