Bringing to bare their gritty, rough hewn interpretations and dextrous multi-instrumentalism, the DRO have created a sound track that features songs that were composed by or for those condemned to 'dance the Tyburn jig'.
One of the UK's most innovative ensembles, their work has been performed, installed and experienced across Europe, North America and the Middle East, and their soundtracks have featured on BBC Television and at Tate Modern.
Tyburnia is a live performance projection of James Holcombe's 2015 film that explores the physical, psychological and political remnants that the ideas of public execution across the UK. As Holcombe reworks the film live to the audience, it is accompanied by the internationally acclaimed folk artists Dead Rat Orchestra and Lisa Knapp performing contemporary interpretations of broadside ballads; songs composed by and for those condemned to dance the Tyburn Jig.
