Carlo Castelvecchi is a mixed media artist based in Carlisle who will be hosting an exhibition of artwork which he has created over a period of 40 years.
Born in Carlisle 1958 he moved to London in 1976 at the age of 18 and worked in the fashion industry for a few years. Just as Covent Garden was being ‘developed’ Carlos was squatting there in a derelict shop along with a friend. During this time he was painting, and showing pieces, at various galleries, including a commission for the launch of Swatch watches and managed to open a gallery. He then went on to work at the electric cinema on Portobello road for 6 years, and was showing work at various galleries in Notting Hill.
In 1990 he returned to Cumbria to paint, had a son and built a home. Constantly creating and showing work in exhibitions including the recent Proseed shows. For the past 5 years Carlos has focused on exhibiting on line, mainly Instagram where there are over 1500 images on show.
“I’m a carlisle based artist who has been trying hard to capture the magic of a moment for the past 40 years. “
